Happy Thanksgiving: Always Give Thanks To The Lord For His Goodness And Love

Happy Thanksgiving! While looking at the history of Thanksgiving, I was intrigued to find the following:

On Thursday, January 31, 1957, the Parliament of Canada proclaimed: A Day of General Thanksgiving to Almighty God for the bountiful harvest with which Canada has been blessed— to be observed on the 2nd Monday in October.  (wikipedia.org)

Many are more than ready for the family gatherings, the turkey dinners, the football games, the festivals and other such things, but are we focused on giving thanks to Almighty God?

Abortion: The Ignored Genocide of Our Time

Some folks watch the Super Bowl for the game, while others tune in for the commercials. Doritos has a history of clever and entertaining Super Bowl ads, and their spot for Super Bowl 50 did not disappoint (watch it here). That said, not everyone liked it. For instance, the folks at NARAL (National Association for the Repeal of Abortion Laws) spent their evening commending and condemning Super Bowl ads. Here is a screenshot of their tweet about the Doritos spot:

NARAL - Feb 7
#NotBuyingIt - that @Doritos ad using #antichoice tactic of humanizing fetuses & sexist tropes of dads as clueless & moms as uptight. #SB50

How sad, indeed, how completely inhuman to be angered by someone “humanizing” unborn babies. What is the fetus if it is not human? Merriam-Webster defines the word “fetus” as:

The Mystery of the Anointed Cherub: Insights into its Identity

The Anointed Cherub

“You were the seal of perfection, full of wisdom and perfect in beauty. You were in Eden, the garden of God … You were the anointed cherub who covers; I established you: you were on the holy mountain of God … You were perfect in your ways from the day you were created, till iniquity was found in you.” These words appear in Ezekiel 28:12, 14, 15. Many think the “anointed cherub” of Ezekiel 28 is Satan, just as the they assume the “Lucifer” of Isaiah 14 is the devil. Is Satan the “anointed cherub”? Let us consider Ezekiel 28.

Unveiling The Fascinating Truth Behind Lucifer

The King of Babylon, Nebuchadnezzar, Lucifer

“How are you fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! How you are cut down to the ground, you whho weakened the nations!” These words appear in Isaiah 14:12. Many people, for many centuries, have equated this Lucufer with Satan, the devil. The primary definition in Webster’s dictionary for Lucifer is “…a name of the devil.” Is Lucifer in fact the devil? Let us consider Isaiah 14.

Revealing The True Identity Of The Antichrist

There’s no shortage of teaching about the antichrist in religious circles, though the validity of what is taught is certainly questionable. Antichrist theories come and go with major world events or leaders. Many are looking for “a great antagonist expected to fill the world with wickedness but to be conquered forever by Christ at his second coming.”1 Suggestions in the recent past have included Pope Benedict XVI, Mikhail Gorbachev, Ronald Reagan, and Saddam Hussein, among others. In fact, a 2011 survey by Public Policy Polling found that 13% of Americans believe President Obama is the antichrist, and another 13% are unsure.2

“…God keep our land, glorious and free…” – Do Canadians truly mean this petition?

God keep our land

As the Olympic torch made its way through the streets of Vancouver just hourrs before the opening ceremony of the winter games, huge crowds of Canadians spontaneously burst into song. The song of choice, “O Canada.”

Certainly, I have nothing against the song – I am a Canadian. I have sung “O Canada” several times in my life, and I expect to sing it several more, if the Lord continues to provide me with life and breath.  However, I am curious at my fellow countrymen who sing our anthem with national pride, but fail to give glory to God, whom they petition, saying, “…God keep our land, glorious and free.”

Faith in the LORD and His Word: Do You Believe?

CTV | Do You Believe?

The 2010 Olympics will begin in Vancouver BC. Several television networks from around the world will be broadcasting the Games. CTV provides coverage in Canda. Canadian Olympians want to quickly lose the stigma of seldom winning gold on home soil. Over the past year, CTV ran an ad campaign entitled, “Do You Believe,” focusing on Canada’s athletes, their training and their Olympic dreams. It has been an interesting campaign and has certainly captured my interest. I applaud CTV.
